American Lutheran, Presho

Two church bodies combined in 1890 to form what is today known as the American Lutheran Church in Presho. The congregation met in members’ homes until 1908 when members built their church a block north of the present location. Plans for a new church building were proposed in 1943, and fundraising began. In 1951 the new church was dedicated with the help of then Governor of South Dakota, Sigurd Anderson, and the President of Augustana College, Dr. L.M. Stavig. The church building has seen updates to its building, inside and out. Most recently, to their church basement as they joyfully became the home to Amazing Grace Daycare. American Lutheran Church hosts the parish's Confirmation classes, bible study, quilting group, and WOW
(Worship on Wednesday).

This is where we are currently headquartered. Please reach out using our contact form if you would like to set up a time to meet.
